Get Angry! The 'system' is screwed up.
To move or not to move...
I've been toying around with the idea of moving my blog to my own site.
Any thoughts?
Of course, the name would no longer be 'Just Floating'...or maybe it could...
Hm.

Dear RaeJane,
I know you heard from me earlier today or yesterday, but I wanted you to be one of the first to know: Nike announced today that it has suspended Michael Vick's contract without pay and will stop selling all Vick-related products at its stores.
This is a big victory, one that simply would not have happened without your action and those of more than 165,000 others.
As you know, the allegations against Michael Vick are so serious and disturbing that The Humane Society of the United called on his corporate backers to end their commercial relationships with the star player. I’m so pleased that Nike has signaled it has a zero tolerance policy for athletes who may be involved with staged animal fights and other forms of malicious animal cruelty. Nike's statement reads as follows: “Nike has suspended Michael Vick’s contract without pay, and will not sell any more Michael Vick product at Nike owned retail at this time. As we’ve said before, Nike is concerned by the serious and highly disturbing allegations made against Michael Vick and we consider any cruelty to animals inhumane and abhorrent. However, we do believe that Michael Vick should be afforded the same due process as any citizen in the United States, therefore, we have not terminated our relationship.”
Also today, Reebok agreed to stop selling Michael Vick-branded products. The company does not have a contract with Vick but has an official relationship with the NFL to sell its merchandise.
Thank you again for all you do for animals.
Sincerely,
Wayne Pacelle President & CEO The Humane Society of the United States
This is sad. It's very upsetting to me that it is illegal in the United Stated to eat horsemeat, but that it is not illegal in the United States to slaughter horses for consumption if it's being shipped off to another country.
I think, at best, it's hypocritical.
ILLINOIS HORSE SLAUGHTERHOUSE BACK IN BUSINESS The nation's last slaughterhouse producing horse meat for human consumption is fighting to continue killing horses by alleging that the new Illinois law (Public Act 95-0002) criminalizing their business is inherently unconstitutional
"Last year, over 100,000 American horses were killed in the United States and shipped to Europe and Japan for human consumption. A Belgian company, Cavel International, runs one of our country’s few remaining horse slaughter plants near DeKalb, IL."
"The transport of horses to slaughter houses is often inhumane, and many horses are injured even before reaching the slaughter plant due to overcrowded conditions. Some are shipped for more than 24 hours at a time without food, water or rest. In addition, the methods used to slaughter these horses once they arrive at the plant often do not result in a quick death. The horses are often forced to endure repeated stuns or blows, and often remain conscious during their slaughter. "
Info thanks to the Aspca!
If you haven't visited the ASPCA website, it's well worth the visit, lots of great information and even shopping!

I'm a fairly easy going person. I said fairly. I try not to get upset over the small things, but like any human being, I get upset over the small things, too.
There are a few things that I wish people would not say to me.
- "You look great for having three kids."
- "Three girls, you must be busy, huh?"
- "Asperger's, oh well, that's not real Autism."
- "She'll grow out if it, right?" (in refrence to Asperger's)
- "It could be worse." (In refrence to Asperger's)
- "It get's easier." (in refrence to having 3 kids.")
- "I hate dogs." (or cats, or animals in general)
And what I'd like to say in response:
- Shut up.
- Shut up.
- Shut up.
- Yes, much like a hair cut, oh and shutup.
- Shut up.
- I hate you. Shut up.
